The Lighthouse Witches by C.J.Cooke

🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

Single mum Liv has been commissioned to paint a mural in an old lighthouse called The Longing. She uproots her three children Sapphire, Luna and Clover from their home in York and brings them to the remote Scottish Island of Lon Haven.

Lon Haven is steeped in folklore with a history of witchcraft, things that Liv doesn’t believe in but when two of her daughters go missing will this change her mind.

Twenty years later Luna is back on the island will she finally find out what happened to her family.

The book is told from four perspectives Liv, Sapphire, Luna and Patrick and the timeline jumps back and forth from 1998, 1600s and 2021.

The book is a fast paced thriller atmospheric and eerie, the characters were interesting and there is a few twists and turns.

I loved how the author incorporated the name of one of the Scottish women, Amy Hindman, who was actually accused of witchcraft. Over 3,000 people mostly women but some boys were convicted of witchcraft during the Scottish Witch Trials which began in 1590 ending in 1727 with the execution of Janet Horne.
