We’re back again with the third instalment of The Empyrean Series, picking up right where Iron Flame left us hanging.
The book largely focuses on Violet and her quest squad travelling past the safety of the wards to try and uncover Andarna’s lineage and if they hold the key to defeating the venin. It takes a more measured pace, offering a detailed exploration of key plot points, resolving some lingering questions from the previous instalment. However, it also introduces new uncertainties, ensuring the narrative remains compelling. While the slower progression allows for significant character and world building, it maintains an underlying tension that keeps you engaged, anticipating pivotal moments.
I went in expecting to be an emotional wreck, but surprisingly I wasn’t. That said, it still had plenty of moments that really tugged at my heartstrings and the final quarter gripped me with the same intensity as Fourth Wing.
And yes, it ends on a cliffhanger. Because of course, it does! Now we all have to endure the agonizing wait for Book 4!
One quote that stuck with me? “I’ve made my peace with knowing that there’s no getting over you.” Honestly, could anything sum up how I feel about this series better? Because there’s absolutely no getting over these books.
