Meet the Maker
Hi, I’m Denise, the maker behind Arlene Rose Crafts!
I’ve been a reader for as long as I can remember. My TBR grows like wildfire and despite owning more books than I can realistically read, new and pre-loved ones somehow continue to find their way onto my bookshelves.
Arlene Rose Crafts grew from my love of stories and creativity. What started as a hobby became a way to combine two things I enjoy, reading and making. I create handmade wooden bookish accessories designed to add a little extra enjoyment to the reading experience, from wooden bookmarks and Kindle inserts to literary keepsakes and seasonal creations.
Alongside crafting, I also share book reviews and reading recommendations. Whether I’m discovering a new fantasy world, falling in love with unforgettable characters, or sharing my latest five star read, books remain at the heart of everything I do. This website brings both sides of my bookish world together, a place to browse handmade creations, discover new reads and connect with fellow readers.
Based in Edinburgh, every item is designed and made by me, either in small batches or to order. I’m always experimenting with new ideas, new designs and new ways to celebrate a love of books.
- Fun Facts
- Dark fantasy is my favourite genre especially if it has a gothic atmosphere
- Wherever I travel, I always map out where the bookshops and libraries are
- Audiobooks keep me company while I’m working
- I’m a total book cover magpie
Whether you’ve found me through my crafts, my book reviews and recommendations or simply a shared love of reading, I’m glad you’re here.
